Prince George and Princess Charlotte Are the Cutest Palace Chefs, Kate Reveals

Tags:

You might assume the royal family spends most of their time being catered to by a devoted staff of palace employees. Of course, there’s no denying that there are plenty of helpful staff members running around the palace to keep things running smoothly, but most of the royals still like to do the same ordinary things we do throughout our days — even when it comes to Queen Elizabeth’s youngest family members.

While on a recent visit to the Lavender Primary School in London during Children’s Mental Health Week, royal mom Kate Middleton shared a few of her family’s food habits. More specifically, how much her two oldest — Prince George and Princess Charlotte — enjoy whipping up recipes with their own little hands in the kitchen. According to People, Matthew Kleiner-Mann (the school’s chief executive) told reporters, “She was telling us how much her children love cooking and how they cook for her.” Apparently, like many other youngsters, the tiny royals are especially fond of cheesy pasta. “One stirs the flour, one puts the milk and butter in. And they make salads and stuff,” Kleiner-Mann added.

Kate and Prince William, along with Prince Harry and wife Meghan, have made mental health one of their biggest priorities over the past few years. Kate is a patron of Place2Be, a charity which offers emotional support to children and their families, and observed how well the program was going with Lavender’s students. “The Duchess was really interested in how [Plaec2Be] worked into the whole school community,” Kleiner-Mann explained. “She was very interested in our discussion about how food can change moods.”

The conversation led to another royal reveal from Kate: “Charlotte loves olives.” It might seem odd that a 3-year-old would be a fan of the salty, bitter flavor of olives, but we aren’t surprised to learn she’s already honing a refined palate. We’re sure William (or “pops” as George refers to him) is also carrying on his mom’s tradition of sneaking in junk food every now and then, just as Diana notoriously did for him and Harry. Whatever the case may be, we love the idea of this brother and sister team rolling their sleeves up to make food together!
