Prince Harry's Cheeky Joke About Dad Prince Charles Is an Absolute Zinger

Always the jokester, Prince Harry recently entertained guests at a royal event with a hilarious jest at his poor father’s expense. The 33-year-old royal has always had a bit of a naughty streak, and apparently old habits die hard. Fortunately, we think Prince Charles would have laughed along, too.

During a garden party in Ireland, Prince Harry addressed the attendees, remarking how thrilled he was to be touring with his new wife, Meghan Markle. “We’re so pleased to be here, for our first official international visit together as a married couple, and we hope it will be the first of many,” he said.

Prince Harry followed this up by saying that earlier in the year, his father had also visited the country. At the time, Prince Charles was treated to a tour from the prime minister of Ireland, who “showed my father around his home city of Cork just a couple of weeks ago. So we are very grateful for you for joining us here this evening as well,” he continued in the prime minister’s direction. “And also very nice to know he didn’t bore you senseless.”

It seems the humor gene is something that runs in the royal family. In 1977, Prince Charles sat down for an infamous interview with Molly Meldrum, the host of the Australian TV show Countdown. Meldrum had a tough time getting his lines right, fumbling and sweating his way through the interview with the prince — who never forgot it. In 2014, to celebrate Countdown‘s 40th anniversary, Prince Charles remarked, “I certainly learned some interesting new Australian words from Mr. Meldrum, and if he could have read my mind he would have learned some interesting new English words from me.”
