Future King of England Prince William has long been regarded as one of the most handsome royals of all time. So, when royal fans realized the 36-year-old actually has a pretty big scar on the left side of his forehead they were totally surprised. Since William's scar is kind of hard to notice, it raises many questions. First, how did he get his scar? And why is it sometimes referred to as "glowing"? And does William mind it at all?

Let's start with an easy one — how did William get his scar? The father of three was reportedly hurt just above his left eyebrow as a child while playing golf. He once revealed that a friend accidentally hit him in the head with a seven-iron golf club while the two were on a putting green. "I got hit by a golf club when I was playing golf with a friend of mine. Yeah, we were on a putting green and the next thing you know there was a seven-iron and it came out of nowhere and it hit me in the head. So, yeah, I was in hospital for that," William said of his scar in a previous interview.

Though William's scar is barely noticeable, it does sometimes "glow" or look inflamed in photos, especially after the Prince ups his heart rate by playing sports, for example. During a 2009 interview, the Duke of Cambridge explained that he doesn't mind the mark and refers to the scar as his "Harry Potter scar" because of its "glowing" quality. "I call it that because it glows sometimes and some people notice it — other times they don't notice it at all," he shared. Interestingly, William's wife Kate Middleton also has a pretty large scar on the left side of her head, but it's often covered by her long brown hair. A royal spokesperson for Kate once told Daily Mail that the Duchess of Cambridge's scar was related to a childhood operation.
