Congratulations to Risa Dorken, who is celebrating a very special milestone with General Hospital, where she plays Nurse Amy! “Today I celebrate two years on GH,” the actress shared on Instagram. “On this day, two years ago, I had my callback for [casting director] Mark [Teschner], [executive producer] Frank [Valentini], and the whole GH team. I was excited and nervous, but ready. I remember thinking it went well, and that the character seemed so me. But as an actor you learn not to overanalyze (or get your hopes up).
“Later that afternoon, my agent called and told me they offered me the role,” Dorken continued. “I am so grateful for the time I’ve spent in Port Charles laughing, singing, dancing, gossiping, crying, and learning. It’s brought me friends and opportunities I’ve dreamt of my whole life. Thank you all for your support over the past two years and 70+ episodes. It’s truly an honor.”
Amy Driscoll didn’t actually make her television debut until the episode that aired on May 4, 2016, when Maxie went to the hospital looking for Nathan and bumped into the snarky, gossipy nurse. And over those two years, Amy got further involved in Maxie’s life when she roped Nathan into being the face of her Ask Man Landers campaign. Viewers were also introduced to her military veteran brother, Chet, who was the reason why Amy was trying to use the book to raise extra money to help with his rehabilitation. The talented hospital employee also got to show off her musical skills during the Nurses Ball!
In real life, Dorken also had a great last couple of years, marrying her sweetheart, Bo Clark, back in June of 2017, and then enjoying a spectacular honeymoon in Cancun!
