The Royals Are Obsessed With This Sunglass Brand
No one does fashion quite like the royals. Whether you admire Kate Middleton for her timeless, elegant ensembles, or you’ve been keeping up with Meghan Markle’s trendy style since 2017, when she made her first public appearance with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games in Toronto in a pair of jeans, a white button-down, ballet flats, and one killer pair of sunglasses, you can trust that the ladies of the royal family are always impeccably dressed from head to toe — right down to their eyewear accessories.
British eyewear brand Finlay London has been experiencing what is known as “Meghan Markle effect” — a phenomenon in which items that Markle, 38, wears in public sell out quickly, catapulting brands to cult status — shortly after she appeared at the games in their Percy sunglasses ($190), a round, tortoise shell shape with gray lenses that helped show off her cool California style.

According to People, the small independent brand sold $26,000 worth of stock in the frames within hours of her showing them off to the world. Markle later wore them again for a shopping trip out in London in November 2017, according to royal style blog Meghan’s Mirror.
Finlay London’s wares have continued to pop up on members of the British monarchy ever since that fateful day overseas, and lucky for you, we know just where to find them.
Markle wore Finlay’s Henrietta frames ($152.49), a black cat-eye style which she paired with jeans, a white blazer, a black tank top, and a panama hat, for a summer outing at Wimbledon in July 2019 — one of her first appearances after giving birth to baby Archie in May.
The Henrietta sunglasses also sold out in several colors after she wore them, according to the brand.

Markle isn’t the only royal to love her Finlays, however — Pippa Middleton, Kate’s sister, has long loved the brand’s “Bosworth” sunglasses, which she was first spotted wearing back in 2012, right around the time that Finlay launched.

Though her favorite frames are no longer up for grabs, she still sports them from time to time, most recently while appearing at Wimbledon in 2019 in a long-sleeved floral print pink dress.
Zara Tindall, Princess Anne’s daughter and Prince Harry’s cousin, is also said to be a fans of Finlay’s designs, proving that this brand is a definite favorite among nearly all the most stylish members of Britain’s most famous family.
