Meghan Markle Gave Kate Middleton a Touching Gift After Their Pre-Wedding ‘Spat’

New details have emerged about the alleged incident between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton at a dress fitting leading up to Meghan’s royal wedding. The story goes that the two duchesses butted heads over flower girl dresses, leading to a disagreement that left one of the women in tears.

According to Meghan, she was the one who cried but she “forgave” Kate for the misunderstanding between them. Now royal author Andrew Morton, who wrote Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, has shed new light on what that forgiveness looked like.

“The spat concerning the bridesmaids’ outfits now behind them, Meghan had since given Kate and her six closest friends gold bracelets designed by Californian jeweler Lisette Polny as a thank you for their help and support,” Morton wrote.

“It was an elegant peace offering, both women professional enough to know that there was no gain in showing dissent or disdain.”

According to Morton’s updated book, the duchesses well and truly put the “spat” behind them after Meghan sent Kate the sweet gift. And Meghan herself previously said that Kate also sent her a peace offering in the form of a bouquet of flowers after the supposed incident.

It was originally reported that Meghan made Kate cry during a disagreement over a dress for Princess Charlotte ahead of Meghan’s 2018 wedding. Tabloids claimed the two duchesses “argued” and Kate left the fitting in tears, however Meghan set the record straight in her Oprah interview earlier this year.

She told Oprah that “the reverse happened”, explaining: “A few days before the wedding, [Kate] was upset about something pertaining to… flower girl dresses.

“And it made me cry. It really hurt my feelings.”

Meghan added that Kate later apologized and sent her flowers as a peace offering, and she “forgave her.” She was careful to point out how the story had been twisted by the UK tabloids to paint a very specific picture of the two women.

“What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn’t do, but that happened to me,” she said of the original story, which claimed Kate was the victim.

“I think it’s really important for people to understand the truth.

“I think so much of what I have seen play out is this idea of polarity, where if you love me, you don’t have to hate her. If you love her, you don’t need to hate me.”

Throughout her time as a senior royal, and since stepping down from the position, Meghan has regularly been compared to Kate in the media.
