Kmart Plans to Close 28 More Stores

It doesn’t seem to be getting better for Kmart. Sears Holdings, the company that owns both Kmart and Sears, has announced that another 28 stores will close by the end of 2017.

After reporting a $251 million second-quarter loss — which Delish says is most likely due to competition from online giants like Amazon — the company looks to slash about $1 billion in costs by getting rid of their stores.

According to Business Insider, all but one of the 28 stores will be closed by mid-November. So if your store is on the list, be sure to stop in and snag some liquidation deals.

In January of this year, Sears Holdings announced it would close 150 Kmart and Sears stores, so this latest news comes after the company already went through a massive shuttering of its branches. While store closings always come with massive sales to the consumers, the sad part is that they usually mean lost jobs. There’s been no word yet on whether Sears Holdings will transfer these employees.
