9 of the Tiniest Dog Breeds With the Biggest Hearts

Tags:

Any pup lover will tell you that the smallest dogs in the world have some of the biggest personalities. It’s no wonder that the tiny pooches seem to bark their way into so many people’s hearts — and we are no exception.

What are the world’s smallest dog breeds?

Luckily for us, there are so many small dog breeds to pick and choose from. From an ultra-fluffy Pomeranian to a furry Papillon, the options seem virtually endless when we’re searching for a sweet four-legged family member. It’s not unusual for some of these cuddly canines to weigh less than 10 pounds and measure less than a foot tall. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the world’s smallest living dog in terms of height is a Chihuahua named Milly who measures a measly 3.8 inches tall. And the smallest living dog in terms of length is yet another Chihuahua named Brandy, who measures just 6 inches from the tip of her adorable nose to the end of her tail. After hearing those minuscule measurements, it should be no surprise that Chihuahuas are typically one of the tiniest canine breeds in the world in general.

But aside from being small and undeniably adorable, we can’t overlook that even tiny pups like Chihuahuas have unique personalities that could command the attention of just about any room they enter. The American Kennel Club has tirelessly mapped out each of these pups’ personalities, and their descriptions make us love them even more. If any of us are lucky enough to get the chance to bond with an extra-loving tiny dog, we’ll get the special opportunity to see just how big their hearts really are — and how much big love they really have to give.
