Flying with a family can seem like a real task. First, you have to buy expensive plane tickets for everyone. Then, you have to pack multiple suitcases, corral the kids into the car, hold everyone's hands through security, quiet any arguments from the kiddo who doesn't like where he or she is sitting, and pray they're well-behaved through the multi-hour flight. Now, imagine you're dealing with twin babies, and you don't have your partner there to help. Yikes!
That's how one mom found herself as she boarded a very crowded flight. As each person got on, the quarters became more and more cramped. Eventually, flight attendants started removing luggage from the plane so it could be placed underneath with the checked bags. An employee at the gate even took the mother's car seat--meaning she would now have to hold both of her babies on her lap.
To make matters worse, when the struggling mommy sat down, a stewardess told her she would not be allowed to hold both of her kids. She was asked to leave the flight. That's when another guest who had overhead the entire exchange swooped in and grabbed the other child--with the mom's permission, of course.
This kind woman offered to hold the woman's child for the entire 45-minute flight. And because nothing that day seemed to go according to plan, what was supposed to be a short trip turned into a two-and-a-half hour wait on the tarmac. Through it all, the stranger comforted the other baby, even burping him. When the kind woman's own daughter started crying, she explained to the girl, "Our job is to help other people. This mom is all by herself with no help, and really needs another mom to help." She kept holding the little boy, comforting him and singing him songs. And that sweet baby boy must have felt so safe because he apparently slept through the whole flight.
The woman who witnessed this kind gesture submitted the heartwarming story to the Love What Matters Facebook group, which highlights acts of kindness and inspirational stories. And it seems like it's struck a chord with mommies everywhere. It's been shared thousands of times, and parents have chimed in with their own stories of kind stangers. The woman in the story who offered her help to a struggling single mom is still anonymous, but we have a name for her and it's "Hero."
"[The] moral of the story is when you see people needing help, do the right thing and help them," the original poster of the story wrote. Amen!
