People with fine, thin, or damaged hair are often a little reluctant to run a brush through their locks. It’s understandable — scalps can be sensitive! — but going without a good brushing for too long can cause your hair to get matted and even result in losing strands, regardless. Enter: the Tangle Teezer brush for fine and fragile hair ($9.60, Ulta).
The original Tangle Teezer is a cult-beauty favorite, but this version has a two-tiered, soft-flex design (the long teeth detangle; the shorter teeth smooth the cuticle) that is made to glide through the hair even more gently without pulling or painful snags. The company claims the teeth are 30 percent softer than the original and that they prevent breakage five times more effectively. We also love its scalp massaging powers.
One glowing review on the product website wrote: “I have very fine hair which is thinning and this brush is the only one I've used that doesn't tug or pull out my hair. Very ergonomic to hold and the multi-length of bristles are great for non-tugging. Also very soft on my scalp.”
Of course, everyone’s hair is different, so this might not be the best option for you. If you want to give it a shot, be sure you’re not diving in with it at your roots and hoping for the best. Instead, test it out on the end of your strands and work your way up. Hopefully, you find yourself as pleased with your smooth, silky hair as the many happy reviewers.
Dealing with hair loss and damage can be frustrating, but taking steps to pamper your locks can go a long way to making you feel beautiful and confident.
