When it comes to who you're going to be in life, it might be all in your hands--literally. According to a new study by Norwegian doctors, your fingers may reveal some very personal things about you.
And it all comes down to the length.
Scientists have long known that adults whose index finger (or pointer finger) is shorter than their ring finger were exposed to more testosterone before they were born. But now, Carl Pintzka, a medical doctor and researcher at the National Competence Service for Functional MRI, has discovered new potential links for certain personal traits and finger length.
If your pointer finger is longer than your ring finger, that means you have low testosterone levels and thus, you're likely to be worse at sports, better at verbal memory tasks, like remembering lists of words, and more likely to become anxious or depressed.
On the flip side, if your ring finger is longer than your pointer finger, this means that you have high testosterone levels and are likely to be better at sports, better at rotating a complicated object in your head, and more likely to develop ADHD, autism, and Tourette's.
Further study into these correlations is needed. But what fascinating potential findings!
