Spring Bowlin may not have expected to have her heart warmed in the checkout line at a Walmart in Mississippi. But that's exactly what happened when she saw the most uplifting exchange in front of her — between the cashier and a very nervous customer.
In a now-viral post on Facebook, Bowlin explained that she was next in line behind a man who was having trouble counting his change at the cash register. The nervous man said, "I'm so sorry," as he began taking handfuls of coins straight out of his pocket. He became increasingly flustered as he continued to lose track of how much money he had while he counted.
Instead of getting frustrated or annoyed that the man was taking longer than other customers, the Walmart cashier said, “This is not a problem, honey. We will do this together.”
Then, the kind woman gave him a much-needed helping hand with keeping track of his change as he counted. The man, clearly still flustered and anxious, began to apologize once more — both to the cashier and to Bowlin.
Both of the ladies continued to reassure him together that it was OK, until his transaction was finally completed and the man walked away.
Bowlin, overwhelmed with gratitude for the cashier's kind gesture, said, "Thank you for being so patient with him."
And the cashier's response is the most spot-on thing we've heard all day.
She said, "You shouldn't have to thank me, baby. What's wrong with our world is we've forgotten how to love one another."
Is it any wonder that this photo has been shared 40,200 times on Facebook so far?
Bowlin closed off her encouraging post by saying she wanted to be more like that cashier at Walmart. After reading her beautiful story and seeing the heartwarming snapshot, we truly couldn't agree more.
