What's the first place you think of when you want the best deal? Chances are it's Walmart. But if you've shifted to doing most of your shopping online on websites like Amazon, this secret money-saving trick might entice you to start shopping at Walmart brick and mortars again.
Earlier this year, Walmart rolled out a program that gives shoppers a discount for shipping their online orders to their local store and picking it up there. And because Amazon doesn't have physical locations like Walmart does, there's no way for the online giant to compete. It's pretty genius, right?

All you have to is visit Walmart's website and look through the enormous selections of items that qualify for the pickup discount. Let's say you and your hubby have finally decided to splurge on a TV. Maybe you decide you want to go with the 50-inch Vizio flat-screen TV. It's $648 on the Walmart website, and if you opt for in-store pickup, they'll knock off another $5.63. Or perhaps you want to send your child off to college with a printer so they're always prepared. Walmart is selling a Samsung printer for $287.28, but if you pick it up rather than have it shipped to your house, you can save $95.64. Now that's a good deal!
While some discounts may seem too small to be worth your while, $95 is nothing to scoff at. And if you like to shop at Walmart for all your necessities, 3 dollars here and 5 dollars there can add up over time.
"We're leveraging Walmart's unique set of assets in a way that will save consumers more money," Marc Lore, Walmart's e-commerce head told Business Insider.
With a deal this good, there has to be a catch, right? According to Business Insider, this pickup discount only applies to items that aren't available in stores. That said, the holidays are coming up, so now could be a great time to get your shopping done and save money at the same time.
