It's a story of everlasting love--and it just may have a happy ending.
Norwood Thomas, a 93-year-old World War II army veteran of the 101st Airborne Division, fell in love for the first time more than 71 years ago.
It was London in 1944, and he was 21, while Joyce Durrant, the girl of his dreams, was just 17. The two dated, but Thomas was soon forced to leave for France for the Battle of Normandy. They at first tried to stay in touch through letters, but eventually drifted apart, and Thomas eventually married someone else and settled in Virginia Beach, VA--though he never forgot his first love.
Durrant, it seems, hadn't forgotten either--and she recently surprised Thomas (who's now a widower) with a phone call that her son arranged by looking him up on the Internet. But even better? The two were able to connect during a recent Skype session, where they laughed and reminisced for over an hour--and Durrant revealed that for decades, she'd been doing something very special every day to remember him.
Their emotional meeting may have you reaching for tissues--take a look.
