A new study in the Journal of Obesity reveals that participants who weighed themselves every day and wrote down the number were more likely to lose weight and keep it off. Why? Well, it all has to do with awareness and motivation. Participants who weighed themselves daily were forced to take notice of how their diet and exercise habits were impacting their weight loss or lack thereof. If you change your behavior and see desired results, you know what you need to do more of to continue achieving your goals. If, however, you’re not seeing the weight loss that you want, you know what actions you need to avoid in the future.

Not convinced? According to research, 40 percent of people who lose weight will gain it back within a year. Yikes!
