There are a few things we all expect as the holiday season approaches: Trips to the grocery store to stock up on ingredients for our big family meals, scoping out sales to buy gifts for our loved ones, and the festive specials we can count on tuning into each year. Although the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries already got a jump start with their new holiday flicks starting to air back in October, the ABC Television Network isn’t too far behind.
Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, and all of the Peanuts gang will be back on our screens November 21, 2018, with their classic animated special, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving airing at 8/7 pm CT. The beloved characters first joined us in celebrating turkey day in 1973 and have become just as much a part of our Thanksgiving tradition as our family members ever since. By now, you probably know how the plot follows along as the characters try to salvage their Thanksgiving dinner from Snoopy and Woodstock, who believe toast and popcorn make a perfect a main dish. No matter how many times you’ve seen it though, the way the group bands together is a lovely reminder that even when everything goes wrong, you can still find a silver lining.
The half-hour special will be immediately followed by another classic short from Charlie Brown and his pals, This is America, Charlie Brown: The Mayflower Voyagers. This historical segment originally aired in 1988 as part of an eight-part series. In it, “history comes to animated screen life in a captivating and informative program about the Mayflower voyagers,” according to ABC’s press release. “After 65 grueling, sea-tossed days, the Pilgrims are in view of America’s shores — and Charlie Brown and the Peanuts crew are with them as they experience firsthand the lifestyle of the early settlers and celebrate the first Thanksgiving.”
With both specials airing the night before Thanksgiving, your family won’t have to wait for the parade to have fun with Snoopy and the whole Peanuts gang!
