14-year-old Cory Lewis knows school buses well. And not just because he's a frequent rider. His mother, Lisa Locklear, has been a bus driver for more than twenty years and always takes time to teach him about bus driving. Little did he know, learning these lessons would lead him to save more than 50 lives.
In December 2015, Lewis was riding on a school bus when a car crashed into the back of it. After the terrifying collision, Lewis saw something horrifying—the unconscious bus driver on the ground.
"I noticed the bus driver wasn’t in her seat, I got up from off the ground, I went up here and I hit the brake," Lewis said.
Because of Lewis's quick thinking, the bus stopped completely and narrowly missed a ditch it was heading toward. No one on the bus was harmed.
Locklear said, "I just feel in my heart that God put him on that bus for a reason. Cory is my little hero. He is my little hero."
