Willie Nelson Cancels Shows Due to ‘Illness’

Tags:

UPDATE (2/14) — We’re so happy for Willie Nelson! A few days after the singer canceled several concerts due to a then-undisclosed illness, his publicist has confirmed that he will be performing as scheduled at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo on February 16. The publicist added that the 83-year-old’s health issue was “just a cold.”

(2/9) Sad news for Willie Nelson. The country legend has canceled two shows in Sahuarita, AZ on Feb. 10 and Albuquerque, NM on Feb. 11 due to an “illness.” These cancellations come days after the 83-year-old called off three concerts in Bakersfield, CA, which were supposed to take place on Feb. 6, 7 and 8.

The other three nixed concerts were also canceled due to health reasons.

Nevertheless, Nelson’s reps say the star is still expected to appear at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo on Feb. 16.

Meanwhile, organizers at the Desert Diamond Casino and Route 66 Casino are working with the entertainer’s team to reschedule the canceled gigs. At the time, no new dates have been selected, but refunds are available for fans at point of purchase.

This isn’t the first time the beloved performer has had to cancel shows due to illness. As recently as in 2015 and in 2016, Nelson has been forced to call off performances due to undisclosed health concerns. In the past, though, it hasn’t taken him too long to bounce back–and we hope that’s the case this time as well.

Nelson, who wrote his first song when he was only 7 years old, has had one of the most storied and colorful careers in the music industry. Not only has it spanned several decades, it’s also included countless hit songs, including the famous tune, “On the Road Again.”

Considering his accomplishments and many accolades, such as inclusion in the Country Music Hall of Fame, he has certainly cemented a legacy for himself. And he undoubtedly continues to do so each day.
