Carrie Kosinski and her husband, Craig, thought they would never be able to have their own babies, so the couple turned to adoption. Together, they adopted a set of twins, but a call from the birth mother revealed a bombshell admission that would change Carrie's and Craig's lives forever.
"I grew up in a big family," Carrie told Fox 6. "Growing up, I had always wanted, like, 18 children," she said.
But when doctors told her she would have trouble getting pregnant on her own, Carrie decided to adopt. As a child, Carrie had been adopted, so she had often brought up the topic with her husband. For Carrie, adoption was "always on [her] heart." Eventually, the Wisconsin couple adopted an adorable set of twins— two sweet baby girls—who were born on February 28.
Then, one year later, the birth mother had another pair of twins, and she wanted them to go to the same family as the first two. With the help of author Karen Kingsbury and her One Chance Foundation, the Kosinskis received a grant that alleviated the financial burden of the adoption. Now, Carrie and Craig had everything—four healthy babies, three girls and one boy—who, amazingly, were all born on February 28!
But the young family wasn't done growing. With doctors' help, Carrie became pregnant. In 2016 she gave birth to two baby girls, and their birthday is, get this, February 28th! What are the odds? Despite being born 10 weeks premature, today the girls are happy and healthy.
And even though Craig and his son are now vastly outnumbered by women in the household, Carrie is well on her way to having the big family she's always dreamed of. And she says she wouldn't mind trying for another boy.
Truly amazing! We're so happy for this family.
