Allison Gilbert
Allison Gilbert is an Emmy Award–winning journalist and the author and co-author of six critically acclaimed, best-selling books, including The Joy of Connections: 100 Ways to Beat Loneliness and Live a Happier and More Meaningful Life, written with Dr. Ruth Westheimer. The book was named one of the best books on aging by The Wall Street Journal and a top 10 well-being book of the year by Audible.
She has spent her career telling meaningful, human-centered stories, reporting for CNN and as part of the launch team for MSNBC. While at WNBC-TV, she covered the September 11 attacks and was nearly killed by falling debris. Around the same time, she lost both of her parents to cancer—experiences that profoundly reshaped the stories she tells.
Today, Gilbert writes and speaks about loneliness, grief and connection, drawing on both her reporting and personal experience. Her work focuses on helping people feel less alone and build more meaningful, supportive relationships in their everyday lives.
