David Traver Adolphus

David has been an editor and writer for two decades, and has been seen in The New York Times, BBC, Esquire, Popular Science, and more.

He began his writing career in early 2005 when he joined the Hemmings family of consumer magazines, where he had over 1,000 stories in print and photographed more than two dozen covers. He became a freelancer in 2013, and had bylines in several major enthusiast publications. During several years working for a housing nonprofit in that period, he authored a comprehensive handbook that was used as the template for a statewide housing initiative. He also helped concept two seasons of the web TV show American Detours.

Prior to his editorial career, David worked as the night cook at a Mexican restaurant; short-order cook at a diner; and did a bit of everything at a busy bar and grill. In his spare time he is now an enthusiastic and largely incompetent home baker, and spends upwards of eight hours every Sunday on meal prep for his family in his extensive home kitchen. He now lives in Vermont with his family.
