He has been a journalist and editor since 2005; and before that had careers in construction and performing arts. As a photographer, he’s also done more than two dozen book and magazine cover shoots, and his writing and photography has been in The New York Times, BBC, Esquire, Popular Science, Road & Track and dozens more. In 2012, he originated and was a producer on two seasons of the web TV show American Detours.

  • David was a founding writer at Sports & Exotic Car in 2005, and spent eight years writing for automotive print magazines.
  • He ran a NeighborWorks satellite office for two years, working in low- and moderate-income housing; and remains active in social issues on both a local and national level.
  • David started and operated The Road Home USA, a 501(c)(3) non-profit for post-Gulf War veterans.
  • David has performed at venues including Heinz Hall, the Schubert Theater, and Brooklyn Academy of Music.
  • David attended SUNY New Paltz in New York State for one semester after high school before dropping out. He went back to college nine years later at Burlington College in Vermont for a Liberal Arts degree, but dropped out again after attending for four-and-a-half years due to a family emergency.
  • As a teenager, David was bitten by a tiger while working as a zookeepeer at a wild animal attraction on Cape Cod. He would not be the last.
