Derek Clewley, PT, DPT, PhD

Derek Clewley, PT, DPT, PhD, is an orthopaedic physical therapist and researcher specializing in manual therapy, dry needling, and pain science. He serves as Associate Director of the Duke Center of Excellence in Manual and Manipulative Therapy and is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University. Board-certified in orthopaedics and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, Dr. Clewley brings decades of clinical and academic expertise to his work.

Dr. Clewley earned his PhD from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions and has played a key role in developing continuing education, residency and fellowship training programs for physical therapists. His research focuses on improving clinical outcomes in musculoskeletal care, and he is part of an international team working on clinical practice guidelines for neck pain. He also serves as an associate editor of BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders and is a board member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
