E. Neil Schachter, MD

E. Neil Schachter, MD, is Professor of Medicine in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Professor of Environmental Medicine, and Professor of Pediatrics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He also serves as Medical Director of the Respiratory Care Department at Mount Sinai Health System.

Dr. Schachter specializes in pulmonary and sleep medicine, with clinical and research expertise in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, occupational and environmental lung disease, and respiratory infections. His work has focused extensively on airway diseases related to environmental and industrial exposures, as well as innovative treatments for advanced lung disorders.

He earned his MD from New York University School of Medicine, completed his internal medicine residency at Bellevue Hospital Center, and pursued fellowship training in pulmonary disease at Yale School of Medicine. A widely published physician-scientist, Dr. Schachter has authored more than 180 publications in pulmonary medicine and environmental health. He has also been recognized by organizations including the American Lung Association and the American College of Physicians for his contributions to respiratory medicine.
