JoAnn E. Manson, MD, MPH, DrPH, MACP
JoAnn E. Manson, MD, MPH, DrPH, MACP, is the Michael and Lee Bell Professor of Women’s Health at Harvard Medical School, a professor of epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and chief of the Division of Preventive Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. A physician-epidemiologist and endocrinologist, she has led or co-led major studies including the Women’s Health Initiative, Nurses’ Health Study, VITAL trial, COSMOS trial and VIVID trial, with research spanning menopausal hormone therapy, nutrition and lifestyle, and risk factors for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cognitive decline and cancer.
She has received numerous honors, including major awards from the American Heart Association, and election to the National Academy of Medicine and the Association of American Physicians, and is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Manson has published more than 1,200 peer-reviewed articles, authored or edited several books, and served as editor-in-chief of Contemporary Clinical Trials and president of The Menopause Society; she is among the most highly cited researchers worldwide and has been featured by the National Library of Medicine for her contributions to the history of women physicians.
