Julius Birnbaum, MD, MHS
Julius Birnbaum, MD, is a rheumatologist and neurologist who, over the past two decades, has cared for thousands of patients with autoimmune diseases. He is the author of Living Well with Autoimmune Diseases: A Rheumatologist’s Guide to Taking Charge of Your Health and a clinical associate professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
He received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and received his medical degree from the Columbia Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is the only physician in the U.S. who is trained as an internist, neurologist, and as a rheumatologist.
Dr. Birnbaum completed his neurology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital, internal medicine residency at Jacobi Medical Center, and a rheumatology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He was then named an American College of Rheumatology Distinguished Fellow.
