Majid Basit, MD

Majid Basit, MD, grew up in Houston and attended Second Baptist High School.  Following an undergraduate degree at Trinity University, he attended the prestigious UT Southwestern Medical School.  After his internal medicine residency at UT Houston Health Science Center, he completed both cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at St. John Medical Center.  He has done both basic science and clinical research, with publication in national journals and presentations at professional meetings.

He is board certified in both cardiology and interventional cardiology.  Dr. Basit treats adults over the age of 18 years.  His clinical interests include complex heart disease, radial (wrist) access for minimally invasive procedures, and treatment of cardiovascular disease in older adults.  He focuses on educating his patients about their health and treats his patients with compassion and respect. 

Dr. Basit is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.  He is the medical director of cardiovascular services at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land Hospital and is also an adjunct clinical professor at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.  He has a passion for improving the quality of health care through mentorship and education of other physicians.

Dr. Basit lives in Sugar Land with his wife and two children.  He enjoys travel, volunteer work and scuba diving.
