Michael M. Johns, III, MD
Michael M. Johns, III, MD, is a distinguished otolaryngologist specializing in voice, swallowing and airway disorders, with a passion for improving patients’ quality of life across all ages. He cofounded one of the first interdisciplinary voice centers in the U.S. at Emory University and now directs the USC Voice Center at Keck Medicine of USC, where his team uses advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies—including awake laser therapy and vocal cord injections—to treat a broad range of conditions and provide gender-affirming voice care. Dr. Johns also leads research focused on minimally-invasive treatments and novel injectable therapeutics for vocal paralysis, muscle weakness, scarring and age-related changes.
A dedicated clinician, educator and researcher, Dr. Johns holds the academic title of Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and is known for his interdisciplinary, patient-centered approach. He enjoys cooking, yoga, and longboard surfing outside of work and emphasizes communication and coordinated care to ensure optimal outcomes and patient satisfaction at the USC Voice Center.
