Pelin Batur, MD
Pelin Batur MD has been at the Cleveland Clinic since 1998; she works in the Department of Subspecialty Care for Women’s Health, within the Ob/Gyn Institute. She is a Professor of Ob/Gyn & Reproductive Biology at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. Her practice is a referral resource for women with complex hormonal needs. Her areas of expertise include menopause, medically complex contraception (including menstrual migraine and menstrually associated neurologic conditions), osteoporosis, and sexual health. She has been integral to the creation of several Cleveland Clinic programs, including the Sexual Health Program, Complex Contraception Clinic, as well as the Women’s Comprehensive Health and Research Center. She also serves as the hormone liaison for multidisciplinary programs in partnership with the Cancer Institute, including the Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer as well the Young Onset Colorectal Cancer Programs.
Dr Batur graduated medical school from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOMED), where she completed the accelerated, 6-year BS/MD track. She completed both her internal medicine residency and subspecialty fellowship training in women’s health at the Cleveland Clinic. The fellowship provided expertise in menopause, breast care, osteoporosis, contraception, hormonal headaches, medical genetics, general gynecology, urology, preventative cardiology and endocrinology. After 15 years of balancing an internal medicine and consultative women’s health practice, she has transitioned to a purely women’s health consultative practice, focused on the care of women with medically complex situations, such as after cancer treatment, organ transplant, or in those who carry genetic conditions which increase cancer risk.
She is actively involved in the education of medical trainees and staff physicians, and has held several educational leadership positions throughout her career. She has published well over 100 book chapters, peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, policy statements, and educational curricula on a variety of women’s health topics. She lectures nationally to general medicine, endocrinology and gynecology specialists, and works closely with multiple national and international medical organizations to advance women’s health care and education. On her free time, she enjoys connecting with nature and spending time with loved ones.
