Rahul T. Pandit, MD
Rahul T. Pandit, MD is a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and Vice-Chair for Ophthalmic Surgery at the Blanton Eye Institute, Houston Methodist Hospital, in Houston, Texas. He serves as Medical Director of the Houston Methodist Hospital Ophthalmology Operating Room. He hails from the Chicagoland area, attended the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology for both his residency and fellowship in Cornea, External Diseases, and Refractive Surgery, and has been practicing in Houston since 2003.
He has been actively involved at the national level with both the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and has received both the AAO’s Senior Achievement Award (2021) and Secretariat Award (2019). He has been recognized as one of the top cataract surgeons in the country by Ocular Surgery News and Premier Surgeon magazines.Dr. Pandit actively participates in teaching at all levels. He is an instructor for courses at national meetings for AAO and ASCRS, as well as internationally, on cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, micro-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), secondary IOL fixation, and complex anterior segment surgery techniques.
In his spare time, Dr. Pandit enjoys spending time with his wife and children and engages in a wide range of hobbies and activities. He is a fitness advocate who enjoys running, and performs on tabla, a percussion instrument. When he has too much time on his hands, he indulges in fun endeavors that uniquely blend his creativity with his professional expertise, adding a touch of lightheartedness.
