Samantha Dunham, MD

Samantha M. Dunham, MD, is an ob-gyn and the co-director of NYU Langone’s Center for Midlife Health and Menopause. Dr. Dunham has expertise in perimenopause and menopause, and is interested in the role menopause plays in the development of chronic diseases and long-term health.

As co-director at the Center for Midlife Health and Menopause, she educates patients about symptoms and explains what is normal and what is not. In addition, Dr. Dunham collaborates with patients to explore medical therapies and lifestyle changes that help improve symptoms. She helps people separate fact from fiction when it comes to tests and treatments for perimenopause and menopause.

Dr. Dunham also manages gynecological symptoms, such as premenstrual syndrome and abnormal bleeding, and provides care after abnormal Pap and human papillomavirus (HPV) test results and for breast health concerns. In addition, she provides contraception counseling and places intrauterine devices.

In the operating room, the procedures Dr. Dunham performs include hysteroscopy to remove and reduce fibroids. She also offers the Sonata procedure, which uses radiofrequency energy to shrink fibroids. These treatment options result in minimal downtime for patients.

Office procedures performed include endometrial biopsy; colposcopy, which allows examination of the cervix; and loop electrosurgical excision procedure, in which she removes precancerous cervical cells. Her aim is to make any office procedure as comfortable as possible.

Dr. Dunham says she enjoys listening to her patients and working with them to create a treatment plan with which they are comfortable. She’s been included in Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors” series and Super Doctors’ list for the New York metro area.
