Srihari S. Naidu, MD, FSCAI, is an interventional cardiologist widely regarded for his clinical expertise, scholarship, and leadership in both hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and cardiogenic shock.  Dr. Naidu is a pioneer in alcohol septal ablation for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and, in recent years, has expanded the use of alcohol ablation into the structural and electrophysiology spaces.  Within cardiogenic shock, he chaired the writing group for the SCAI SHOCK Classification and is the founder of the SCAI SHOCK multi-disciplinary courses. 

He began his career as an attending at New York Presbyterian – Cornell and New York University Long Island before joining the faculty at New York Medical College and Westchester Medical Center, where he directs both the HCM National Center of Excellence and the cardiac catheterization laboratories for the network. 

The HCM Center at Westchester Medical Center is one of the ten busiest in the nation, treating thousands of patients with this disease.  Dr. Naidu edits the only comprehensive textbook, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (Springer, Inc.), launching its third edition in 2025, and also runs an annual live proctoring alcohol septal ablation course for others interested in learning the technique.  In 2024, he co-authored Lindsay’s Big Heart, a children’s book about hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and the risks of sudden cardiac arrest in the young, which has been featured on NBC News and is an Amazon best-seller.  Dr. Naidu has published over 250 original manuscripts and lectures widely and is a professor of medicine at New York Medical College.  As an academic interventional cardiologist, he has trained over 200 cardiologists who have gone on to successful careers and has received five teaching awards.  For SCAI, Dr. Naidu is a former trustee and chaired the Development and Industry Relations Committee, launching their Think Tanks, Town Halls, and Advisory Boards.  He founded the SCAI Emerging Leader Mentorship Program (ELM), which has been the pre-eminent leadership pipeline in interventional cardiology.  He has chaired several consensus documents, including three iterations of the SCAI Best Practices in the Cardiac Cath Lab and two iterations of the SCAI SHOCK Classification, and is an author of the HCM guidelines in both 2011 and 2024.   Dr. Naidu holds other roles, including membership of the NY State Cardiac Advisory Council, past president of the NY American College of Cardiology, past president of the Brown University Medical School Board of Directors, and Trustee Emeritus of Brown University.  In 2021, he was named a Top 100 Healthcare Innovator in Crain’s NY.
