Thomas Maldonado, MD
Thomas Maldonado, MD, is a vascular surgeon at NYU Langone Health. Inspired to pursue medicine as a teenager while volunteering with a local ambulance corps, he witnessed firsthand the impact of patient care. Raised in a family of doctors and teachers, he trained in general surgery and went on to specialize in vascular and endovascular procedures, completing a fellowship in 2003 during a time of rapid advancement in minimally invasive treatments.
Now an expert in these techniques, Dr. Maldonado collaborates with engineers to develop next-generation devices and is among a select group performing fenestrated stent grafting for complex aortic aneurysms. Known for his compassionate, patient-centered approach, he prioritizes clear communication, helps ease anxiety surrounding surgery and builds lasting relationships through attentive pre- and postoperative care.
