6 Anti-Aging Beauty Tips That Nix Wrinkles, Droopy Eyelids, Dark Circles, and More
A little touch up can go a long way. While we all know our natural beauty always shines, there’s nothing wrong with turning to a few go-to products to look our best. So we turned to a few experts to recommend some tips. Watch aging beauty bothers disappear with these pro-approved tips!
Wrinkles? Diminish them with this trick.
The surprising technique that makes wrinkles virtually disappear? Sweeping a light dusting of loose powder, like Airspun Loose Face Powder (Buy on Amazon, $6.99), onto skin before using foundation. The finely milled powder “fills in” fine lines so skin appears smoother while also ensuring makeup applied afterward doesn’t look cakey, says celebrity makeup artist Amy Zdunowski-Roeder. “Plus, the powder gives foundation something to grip to, so it stays on longer.”
Thin lips? Volumize them with ombré color.
“Subtly blending two shades of the same lipstick color creates dimension for the illusion of a plumper pout,” says Zdunowski-Roeder. To do: Grab one light and one dark shade of lipstick in the same color family. Using a lip brush, outline lips with the darker shade, then fill in the rest with the lighter one; lightly blend with the brush.
Droopy eyelids? ‘Lift’ them with winged eyeliner.
“An angled flick directs focus upward, ‘pulling’ eyes up with it to counteract droopiness,” says Zdunowski- Roeder. Want to achieve the perfect wing with ease? Holding a spoon’s handle on the outer corner of the eye at a 45-degree angle, trace a line using a liquid liner, like essence Eyeliner Pen (Buy on Amazon, $8.97). Flip the spoon, place the bowl at the lash line, and trace the curve outward, connecting to the line. Fill in the wing’s center.
Sparse eyebrows? Plump them with a ‘feather’ technique.
Zdunowski-Roeder’s two-step trick to thicker brows: First, brush brow hairs up and out, then apply a clear brow gel before filling them in. “This ‘sets’ hairs vertically, creating width so brows appear two times thicker.” Then use a “microblading” pen, like Glossier Brow Flick (Buy on Glossier.com, $18), to draw light, feather-like strokes where you see sparse spots. This mimics the look of hairs for a natural-looking, fuller finish.
Dark circles? Mask them with a concealer ‘triangle.’
Dotting concealer in a half moon directly under the eye (the way most of us do it) can actually highlight circles and bags. But applying it in a long triangle “points” focus down and away from discoloration, while creating the same brightening effect a flashlight would if held against the cheek, helping shadows and puffiness recede, says Zdunowski-Roeder. To do: Apply a creamy concealer in an upside down triangle from your lower lash line to the top of your cheekbone, then blend well.
These aging beauty tips will have your natural looks shining through.
