There’s no mistaking it: every time I get a whiff of anything even remotely like fresh apples, it brings me right back to my early 20s when I would slather my skin in Bath & Body Works Country Apple body moisturizer or suds up with the same-scented body wash. As I “matured” and no longer wanted to smell like a fruit, I moved on to Peony, one of the brand’s lighter, floral scents. Recently, in an effort to reclaim my youth, and reignite some of the memories of a more carefree time, I went straight to the site to find those scents—and to my great dismay, they no longer exist. Apparently, some of the best Bath and Body Works scents are frequently retired. So I went on a mission to find out how I can get my hands on these nostalgic scents or at least some very good dupes. A quick online search revealed that I’m not the only one searching for these—and other—nostalgic scents from the fragrance giant. On many occasions, the company releases new versions of their old fragrances in newly engineered scents and in updated packaging. The downside? Search “discontinued bath & body works scents” or add the name of the scent you’re looking for on Ebay and Amazon and you’ll find pages worth of retired scents or products. I was able to find mists of both Country Apple and Peony!
Does Bath and Body Works ever bring back retired scents?
Oftentimes the company will re-issue favorites like Cucumber Melon (another ‘90s favorite of mine) and Freesia. In fact, both Country Apple and Peony were relaunched in 2016—but they’re gone again, and I missed it.
There are some fan social media accounts to follow that share all things Bath & Body Works to make sure you don’t miss out on any new or re-launched products. A few to follow are @bathandbodyislife on Instagram and @_scentsgalore on Instagram. But the brand itself also keeps fans updated on their Instagram and TikTok accounts as well.
