Bobby Flay has long been a prominent name in the culinary world, and while most know him for his various Food Network series and on-camera charisma, his career in the kitchen goes back decades; the 61-year-old studied at the French Culinary Institute and was part of its very first graduating class in 1984. On September 8, Flay will take the lead in an all-new series on the Food Network: Bobby Flay’s The Line. Each week, Bobby and his crew of hand-picked chefs will go up against an accomplished restaurant staff as they compete to deliver the best possible meal to a series of guests. The show aims to highlight the intensity and skill required to work a restaurant line, and fans of the television personality and chef can’t wait to see what’s in store.

“I consider The Line the project that Food Network audiences have been waiting for—it combines high-end restaurant cooking, exhilarating competition and behind-the-scenes moments in real time,” said Flay in a press release. “It’s how the restaurants that we run work—and sometimes don’t. The Line is a real-life kitchen rollercoaster that the viewer will want to be strapped in for.”

Though Bobby might be getting a bit of attention for his new show, his personal life has also garnered public interest as of late, for his romance with fellow chef Brooke Williamson, 48, looks to be sweet as can be. How did Bobby Flay and Brooke Williamson meet?

Brooke Williamson’s career has been just as impressive as her partner’s. While she won Season 14 of Top Chef, prior to that, she had already built a successful career in the industry. Post-Top Chef, she competed on Tournament of Champions and won that as well.

Brooke met Bobby when they both served as judges on Supermarket Stakeout, though at the time, he wasn’t really familiar with who she was. He recalled their meeting during an episode of his podcast, Bobby on the Beat, telling guest Alex Guarnaschelli, “We actually started talking there, but then we didn’t really talk for another year after that. It was just one of those moments, and then COVID happened.”

In 2020, Williamson wrote a piece for the Los Angeles Times about how the pandemic affected the restaurant industry, and after Bobby had come across it, he felt inclined to reach out with praise. “I remember I was standing on the patio of my restaurant, and you FaceTimed me out of nowhere. I hadn’t spoken to you in like a year,” Williamson shared as a guest on Bobby’s podcast. “And that’s how you called to tell me that you really respected what I wrote and you read my article and you thought I did a great job at representing the industry with my voice.”

Bobby and Brooke’s relationship continued to evolve, with the two of them joining forces on several of his television series, including Bobby’s Triple Threat. In 2025, they went public with their romance.

Brooke and Bobby are as happy as could be

Since going public, the duo has been enjoying every minute together. During an appearance on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, there was conversation around a ring Brooke was seen wearing—but Bobby was quick to clear up any engagement rumors. “We both don’t want to get married again. It’s okay. So, like, it’s great having a life partner. And so I wanted to give her something significant to make her feel committed. That’s all.”

As Brooke and Bobby enjoy this new chapter, we wish them nothing but the best!
