Drew Barrymore Is Obsessed With This Drugstore Eye Cream for Dark Circles
In a world of paid celebrity opinions, unsponsored advice from Drew Barrymore feels like a breath of fresh air. The actress doesn’t have to share her miracle products with her fans, and you’d think she might not since she owns her own cruelty-free skincare and makeup line, Flower Beauty. Still, Barrymore dishes all her beauty hacks, tips, and tricks on Instagram no matter where she finds them.
The icing on the cake? Many of the products she recommends are affordable and available at local grocery and drugstores. Sign us up!
Barrymore is well known for her smooth, glowing skin, and she is honest about the ways in which she achieves it. On Instagram, she revealed that she constantly struggles with dark eye circles. Fortunately for us, she shared a product she is “obsessed with” that has become a go-to fix: Olay Eyes Ultimate Eye Cream (Buy on Amazon, $22.43)
“I love this,” she raved. “It’s my tried and true.”
The three-in-one formula is designed for all skin types (dry, normal, combination, oily) and targets dark circles, wrinkles, and puffy eyes all while acting as a daytime concealer. It’s packed with nutrients such as amino peptides, which can help smooth and firm the skin, and vitamin B3 (niacinamide), which helps skin cells retain moisture and promotes cell regeneration.
“This on its own not only acts as a concealer, brightening and lightening the effect and look of a dark circle, but it’s also taming the dark circle while you’re wearing it,” Barrymore explained in her Instagram video. “It’s sort of a perfect alchemy of skin care as makeup.”
Speaking of makeup, Barrymore does not recommend putting concealer or foundation on top of the product or any eye cream in general. “It can curdle like cream in a hot tomato sauce and you don’t want that!” she said.
At $22, it may be a little more expensive than some drugstore brands, but very affordable as far as eye creams go. If you’d prefer a concealer-free option, you may consider the vitamin C-enriched Brightening Eye Cream for Dark Circles (Buy on Olay.com, $25.12).
This isn’t the only time Barrymore has recommended an Olay product without being sponsored. She recently praised the Olay Daily Facials Water-Activated Dry Cloths (Buy at Walmart, $5.96). In an Instagram video demonstrating how to use the product, Barrymore raved about the ease of the cloths and their ability to completely clean her face while being gentle on her skin.
Now, Barrymore is the first to admit that it’s fun to shop around and try new skincare potions. However, this self-proclaimed beauty junkie has also made it very clear that products are not the end all, be all of beauty.
“I love all those tips, hacks, and tools,” she said. “But I know that inside, in [my mind], if I don’t feel pretty, it doesn’t matter what I look like on the outside. Don’t spend your life walking into rooms looking for validation … sanity and a warm heart are going to make the exterior that much better.” We strive to live by these wise words!
