What Harrison Ford Gave Up to Get Hunkier Than Ever at 77

Raise your hand if you’ve been swooning over Harrison Ford ever since he made his big break in Star Wars movies more than 40 years ago? Hey, no one can blame you. The “scruffy looking nerf herder” just gets better with age — and Ford is proving that again while promoting his latest film.

The actor sat down with Ellen DeGeneres to discuss his role in The Call of the Wild and revealed how he’s gotten into better shape than ever at 77. Apparently, Ford doesn’t rely on hitting the gym or “working out like crazy” to chisel his physique. “I just work out a bit,” he admitted. “I ride bikes, I play tennis.” OK, but there has to be a bit more going on to help him stay so trim, right?

Apparently, it’s more about what Ford gave up eating than how often he breaks a sweat. “I eat vegetables and fish,” he explained. “I was tired of eating meat… I know it’s not really good for the planet and not really good for me.”

You have to admit, it’s certainly paying off! Plus, it lines up with plenty of new research which claims things like the Mediterranean diet, flexitarian diet, and plant-based diets can help with everything from boosting gut health and weight loss to warding off diabetes and cardiac issues. And if we happen to get in as great a shape as Ford while following his lead, even better!

That isn’t the only exciting tidbit he revealed while chatting with the funny lady, though. When asked whether he’d be grabbing a whip and suiting up for a new installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, the playful actor left the audience confused at first: “I can deny that it’s not happening…” After unscrambling his wordplay, Ford revealed they’ll likely start filming the fifth Indie flick this summer. We can’t wait to see how great the hunky action star looks when that gets released, too!

In the meantime, take a look at Ford with a ruggedly handsome beard (and adorable doggy sidekick) in the trailer for The Call of the Wild below and check with your local theaters for when you catch him on the big screen ASAP.

Sure, the pup might be the work of some clever animation, but Ford’s good looks and charming talent are 100 percent real.
