While Jack Hughes, 24, might be all anyone can talk about after he scored the winning goal in the 2026 Winter Olympics Men’s Hockey final game against Canada, he’s hardly the only member of the Hughes family who shines on the rink.

The New Jersey Devils center and alternate captain plays in the National Hockey League alongside not one brother but two. By his side on the Devils is Luke Hughes, 22, a defenseman. Meanwhile, eldest brother Quinn Hughes, 26, who also played this year for Team USA, is a defenseman for the Minnesota Wild. While this trio of brothers has achieved their level of skill thanks to years of dedication and practice, they’ve got hockey in their blood.

Mom Ellen Weinberg-Hughes, 56, is a former ice hockey player herself, having competed in major tournaments throughout her career, including the 1992 Women’s World Championship, where Team USA took home a silver medal. Jim Hughes, Jack, Luke and Quinn’s father, has also had an accomplished career in the hockey sphere, having played at the college level. While the Hughes brothers are a trio the world already can’t get enough of, here, get to know the family a little better before the NHL season continues on Wednesday.

Even before Jack Hughes helped Team USA clinch their gold medal yesterday morning, he’s been something of an NHL golden boy. At just 24 years old, he’s one of the most beloved players in the league and has been playing with the New Jersey Devils since 2019, when he was the first overall in that year’s draft. Over the years, he’s been an all-star player, and despite a handful of injuries that have temporarily sidelined him, he’s come back stronger each time. Whether you know him from yesterday’s game, are an avid Devils fan, or merely know him for his speculated romance with popstar Tate McRae, Jack Hughes will likely be a name you’ll be hearing for quite some time.

How many pro athletes can say they get to play on the same team as their older brother? Luke Hughes can! At 22 years old, the New Jersey Devils defenseman is a force to be reckoned with. Though still in the early years of his professional career, Luke has proven he is an asset to the Devils, having signed a seven-year contract with the team back in 2025.

Twenty-six-year-old Quinn shined alongside his brother Jack on the ice as part of Team USA, and though he isn’t a part of the Devils like his two brothers, the love between them all runs deep. Quinn is a defenseman for the Minnesota Wild and has been playing professionally since 2019 after attending the University of Michigan between 2017 and 2019. He started his NHL career with the Vancouver Canucks. Though many fans of the Hughes brothers hold out hope that Quinn will join Jack and Luke on the Devils in the near future, only time will tell!

Having raised three superstar hockey players, it’s no surprise that Ellen Weinberg-Hughes and Jim Hughes have some hockey history. Ellen grew up playing multiple sports and had great success on the women’s ice hockey team at the University of New Hampshire. Later, she won silver at the 1992 IIHF Women’s World Championship as part of Team USA. Despite her sons, Jack and Quinn, winning big at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Ellen played her own special part in them as well, working as a player development consultant for the Team USA women’s ice hockey team. Jim, on the other hand, was a successful player in his youth at Providence College. He went on to work in player development for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

From Ellen’s World Championship silver to Jack’s Olympic gold, the Hughes family has proven that hockey excellence truly does run in their blood. As all three brothers continue their NHL careers, one thing is certain: the Hughes name will be synonymous with hockey greatness for generations to come.
