Jane Seymour has long been known for her poise and beauty, and the Bond girl and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman star is stunning as ever at 75. The actress has been a spokeswoman for the skincare line Body Firm since its inception in 2015, and she credits their products with helping her maintain her glow. “I tried these products and went to the gym. My trainer loves to try all the latest skin treatments and she asked me what I’d gotten done. She thought my skin looked amazing, so that’s what made me say, ‘I think this works,’” she says. “I figured if the woman who sees me regularly and knows my body from working with me at the Pilates machine notices a difference, the Body Firm must be worthwhile, so I kept using it, and here we are.”

Seymour spoke to Woman’s World about the hack that keeps her looking rejuvenated on set, the ’80s beauty trend she’ll never bring back and the perspective on aging that’s helped her thrive.

Jane Seymour’s behind-the-scenes beauty hacks

“I’m currently starring in my own series, Harry Wild, and I’ve been doing it for the last five years. I have to get up at 5 a.m., and I have a cup of coffee and my vitamins. To help me look well-rested, I keep teaspoons in the fridge or freezer when I’m filming,” Seymour says. She explains: “When I’m in the makeup chair, my skin has to be perfectly clean and ready, like a blank slate, so I’ll hold the cold spoons over my eyes and put them all around my skin. I like to push Body Firm’s Plump & Firm Cream into my skin with the cold spoons while they’re doing my hair—it’s so refreshing.”

“I have to do my own kind of workout,” Seymour says. “During breaks in filming, I’ll find a banister or a wall on set—anything that doesn’t move—and use my own body weight to do my exercises.” “I’m also religious about getting eight hours of sleep every night, and I don’t drink any alcohol when I’m working. I’ll drink a little in real life, but to be perfectly honest, I feel so much better when I don’t that I keep wondering why I bother,” she continues. “I have a busy schedule, and I’m always trying to snatch the moments to get my nutrients and keep my skin and hair healthy and my brain sharp.”

Looking back on retro style: ‘I can’t believe that I ever frizzed my hair out!’

Jane Seymour is instantly recognizable for her long, lustrous hair. She’s been rocking this look for over 50 years, and looking at her today, one can’t help but think that the common idea that women should go for a shorter hairstyle after a certain age is misguided. Still, while Seymour’s hair is undeniably fabulous, she does have one styling regret: “I’ve always had long hair, and it used to be so long I could sit on it, but I can’t believe that I ever frizzed my hair out!” she says.

“I went for the full frizz. I wish it was a hairpiece!” she laughs. “I accidentally popularized that look when I presented at the Oscars in 1981. My hairdresser decided to do the big hair, and a critic said that I looked like ‘50 pounds of mildewed mattress stuffing.’ I’ve never forgotten that.” Even if Seymour has mixed feelings about the look, it made an impact. “Ralph Lauren contacted my PR and asked who did my hair. I didn’t want to throw my hairdresser under the bus, so at first I said I did it myself, but they were actually hoping they could copy the look for their new fashion show. I gave them my hairdresser’s contact and that started a trend, sadly,” Seymour recalls.

From her ’70s boho-chic looks to her over-the-top ’80s glam, Seymour is a true style icon, and today, she says, “I like to shop in my own closet.” “I was going to toss all my clothes with big shoulder pads, but I ended up keeping them, because everything comes back. I always say not to throw anything away,” she shares. “I’ve recently been on the red carpet wearing things that I first wore 20 or 30 years ago, and they’re all back in style now. I look at what’s in style and see how I can put a look together with clothes I already have. It’s like my sport.”

Jane Seymour’s outlook on aging: ‘I want to encourage women that this is our time’

Jane Seymour celebrated her 75th birthday in February, and she observes, “A lot of women give up around the time they’re 50—they hide under a rock, and it’s like they’re invisible.” “I want to encourage women that this is our time,” she says. “We’ve raised the kids, if we had them, we’ve been married or had long-term relationships. Invariably, the woman is the one that’s keeping the nest together in whatever form, and now is our moment to be the people we’ve always wanted to be. We’re not going to waste time thinking about doing something, because we have the opportunity to actually do it.”

Seymour has been in a relationship with musician and doctor John Zambetti since 2023, and she says one of the most meaningful things she’s learned in her 70s is that “It’s never too late to find a partner.” “I found a partner when I wasn’t looking at all,” she marvels. “Just by being 70-plus, you’ve had a life. By the time you reach this age, you have a warehouse full of baggage! To find somebody to share life with and to be supportive of while knowing that you’re going to navigate illness and discomfort is an important thing, and it’s wonderful to have someone in your age group be your partner.”

“Having a purpose is huge,” Seymour says of being older and wiser. “A lot of people don’t have a purpose, even young people. My mother’s wisdom led me to set up my non-profit, the Open Hearts Foundation, because she always said that accepting is the hardest thing to do in life, so if you can accept things, open your heart and reach out to help someone else, then you have a purpose. Finding purpose and feeling that you’ve made a difference is so important, especially in your 70s, when you’re sadly losing people that you’ve loved and shared a lifetime with.”

Asked for her self-care advice, Seymour offers, “Take time to be with the people that you love, people that need you or people that can put a smile on your face—now is the perfect time for that.” “I really try to encourage women to be the best them that they can be, rather than trying to change themselves,” she adds. “The truth is, actresses have beautiful lighting and professional hair and makeup, but real beauty comes from your attitude, your wellness and your skincare, and that’s it.”
