Earlier this week, former President George H.W. Bush was taken to the hospital after he pneumonia-related breathing problems. His wife, former First Lady Barbara Bush, joined him at Houston Methodist Hospital because she too was having health issues.

After learning about her grandfather’s hospitalization, Jenna Bush Hager opened up to Today Show host Hoda Kotb about just how much George H.W. means to his grandkids.

She said learning of a relative’s hospital stay is “never good news to hear or wake up to,” but she remains thankful for the outpouring of support. “How lucky for our whole family that we have people that think about us and pray for us.”

She shared a selfie she and her twin sister, Barbara, took with the man they affectionately call “Gamps.”

“I adore him. He’s the best,” she said. “He really is one of the most humble, wonderful men in the world.”

Among the 41st president’s well-wishers is another former president!

The resilient 92-year-old has faced his own share of health issues in the recent years. He suffers from Parkinson’s and has been hospitalized for previous breathing issues as well as a fractured neck. When the 35-year-old confided to her husband how worried she was, he simply reminded her, “He’s so strong.”

“We love you, Gamps,” she said. “You’re probably not watching but if you are, may we make you laugh. Or make you humiliated, one or the other, either one could be good medicine.”
