Julia Roberts Opens Up About Losing Her Beloved Mom
Julia Roberts’ mom Betty Lou Bredemus had a lot to teach her while she was growing up. Though Bredemus sadly passed away from lung cancer back in 2015, Julia Roberts said in a new interview that she learned many valuable lessons from her mother while she was still alive—especially when it came to parenting.
“My mom worked a full-time job and raised three girls pretty much on her own,” Roberts said. “My brother [actor Eric Roberts] is older, so he was gone and out of the house. She never showed the strain of it.”
And when it came time for Roberts to start a family of her own, she knew just who to turn to for advice.

“[When I] had three children under 3 years old, I was like, ‘Mom, how did you do this?’” she said. “And instead of saying, ‘Well, you just have to apply yourself and it takes effort,’ she goes, ‘It’s called daycare, honey.’”
Roberts was so grateful and appreciative of her mom’s honesty back then. And now, it’s time for her to get honest about her grief at the loss of her beloved family member.
She admitted she thinks about her mom “all the time,” and it doesn’t take much at all to have something remind her of her.
“The kids talk about her a lot,” she said. “It’s funny because her name was Betty and I feel like lately, she just crosses my mind, and I’ll turn and I see something that says ‘Betty,’ just unexpectedly.”
Though some time has passed, you are still in our thoughts and prayers, Julia Roberts! Stay strong.
