Martha Stewart’s Surprising Guilty Pleasure Snack is Probably in Your Fridge Right Now
It's basically the opposite of caviar.
We all have a snack that we know might not be the healthiest option, but it satisfies our cravings better than anything else could and sometimes we just can’t help ourselves. You would probably expect food maven Martha Stewart to pick something on the fancier side, but her go-to indulgence is actually surprisingly relatable.
“My guilty pleasure – single slices of American cheese,” Stewart spilled to Us Weekly last month. Who among us can deny unwrapping a slice (or two… or three) of those little yellow squares from time to time? Honestly, we might go grab one right now.
Stewart is probably also slapping that cheese on top of some plant-based burgers, since she recently teamed up with Beyond Meat to launch their new line of breakfast sausage substitutes. Stewart was inspired to collaborate with the company in order to promote healthy diets that also happen to help the planet. “Beyond Meat offers a better-for-you plant-based option to animal protein for people who are looking to change or expand their diets.” she explained on her magazine’s website. “I think it is important to start the conversation around plant-based diets. Reducing our meat consumption as we move toward the future is yet another important step in curing the environmental problems facing the world we live in.”
When she’s not nomming on American cheese and meat-substitutes, Stewart prefers to rely on her own backyard to provide fresh ingredients for her meals. “I have a garden, so I grow almost everything I eat now, even in the winter,” she claimed. “I made a turnip soup this weekend, I make salads every single day, I’m growing cucumbers and tomatoes. I raise my own chickens for eggs.”
You can follow in Stewarts footsteps with two delicious recipes she developed: Beyond Meat Sausage Frittata and Beyond Meat Sausage with Creamy Grits and Roasted Tomatoes. You can also follow her bizarre trick for making scrambled eggs to serve that up alongside the meat substitute.
Who’s hungry?
