The Pioneer Woman Wants You to Help Co-Write Her Next Cookbook

Ree Drummond, aka the Pioneer Woman, is releasing a new cookbook next year, but first she needs your help. Wait, what could Drummond, the Pioneer Woman, a hotel owner, restaurateur, and thriving businesswoman, possibly need from us? Well, the contents of her new book are all up to you!

“I have a new cookbook coming out next fall (October 2019), and I’m getting ready to jump in and start the fun,” she revealed in a blog post. “But as I’m organizing thoughts and recipe ideas, I wanted to include you in the brainstorm by asking, in a nutshell: What would you like to see in the next PW cookbook? I am working with a general direction in mind that I’m excited about, and I’d love to incorporate your thoughts, hopes, and dreams.”

Drummond guides the discussion with a series of questions: “Would you like a general cookbook with traditional categories such as Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Appetizers, and Desserts, with no specific overarching theme?” she asks, “Or would you like a cookbook with a very specific focus: Fast, or Make-Ahead, or Comfort Food, or Slow Cooker/Instant Pot?” She also poses the questions of keeping the step-by-step instructions, whether she should give readers a peek into life on her Oklahoma ranch by sharing family photos, and if there’s interest in low-carb and lighter versions of her classics.

In the comment section, the general consensus seems to be that healthier recipes would be a hit. One woman even suggested toddler-friendly foods, which is evidence of Drummond’s wide appeal. A commenter named Kristen Faial had the genius proposal of adding meal-planning guides. “I would like weekly meal plans. So maybe a week’s worth of groceries and what to prep and make for a week at a time,” Faial wrote. “It is so hard when you don’t have time to go through every page and cross-match ingredients to shop for the week.”

If you want to chime in, you can add your suggestion on Drummond’s website. No matter the direction of this new cookbook, one thing’s for sure: The food is going to be pretty darn delicious.
