The Original Gerber Baby Just Turned 90, And Today She’s Just as Cute!
The original Gerber baby just hit a milestone birthday!
Ann Turner Cook, perhaps the most recognizable baby, just turned 90 years old, and the nonagenarian is still just as adorable as the day she was sketched.
Dorothy Hope Smith, a friend of Cook’s parents, made a rough charcoal drawing of the four month old in 1927.
The next year, Gerber started a contest to find a new face for their brand. Smith submitted her unfinished picture, offering to complete it if it was chosen.

No surprise, the judges liked her portrait the way it was. In fact, Smith’s face was so well-liked that in 1931, Gerber made it their trademark. The rest is history.
