Tiffani Thiessen, 51, Looks Back on Her ‘Saved By the Bell’ Fame and Life Lessons From the ’90s (EXCLUSIVE)
The star shares her secrets to balance, health and staying grounded at 51
Tiffani Thiessen, 51, understands the modern hustle all too well, from balancing her successful career to parenting her two kids, and she knows it’s not always such a simple task. From her early days in the entertainment industry to her more recent projects, Thiessen has been experiencing the modern hustle for the entirety of her career.
The actress recently partnered with StarKist to lead their new Fuel for the Modern Hustle campaign, which is a “celebration of everyday routines powered by ready-to-eat, lean protein.” But more than that, Thiessen believes in caring for her health and ensuring that she and her family have quality foods integrated into their everyday diets.

“I’ve always been very cautious about my health and now that I’m getting older and I’m over 50, making sure I have protein in my diet is always such a big thing for me,” Thiessen said.
Even if you have a lot going on, whether that’s heading into work early or driving your kids to soccer, StarKist has something that can work for you. StarKist has ready-to-eat Tuna, Chicken, and Salmon Creations pouches that are perfect for an on-the-go day.
“Now you’ve got easy protein that I can literally put in my gym bag, eat it out of the pouch if you want to, or [there are] different ways to use the pouches with different recipes… This is a super easy, great way to get lean protein in anywhere.”
Tiffani Thiessen gives herself a break
Although we all experience the modern hustle time and time again, it’s not always easy. Occasionally, we fail in completing things we need to get done or it’s harder to achieve something one day than it is another.
“I slay some days better than others,” Thiessen said. “And there’s always a balance. You try to have a good balance of all of it, but it’s not always possible. So, I try to give myself grace.”
And while the hustle certainly gets more difficult as you add more things to your plate, we all have our own version of a hustle. Thiessen, who began acting at a young age, had her own experience with this throughout her early career.
“I definitely go back and actually laugh at the fact that I thought my hustle was so hard in my teens and 20s… So I’m hustling with all this other stuff besides my own independent hustle for my career and life and my health. We have multiple hustles.”
Catch Tiffani Thiessen in her new show
You likely know Tiffani Thiessen best as head cheerleader Kelly Kapowski in Saved By the Bell or as the devious Valerie Malone in 90210. But now, the actress is taking on an entirely different role as Miss Graves in the new Disney+ show, Coven Academy.
“It’s [Coven Academy] kind of a supernatural, mystical show… It’s really fun, and it’s a great group of people. It takes place in New Orleans and it’s about witches and vampires and all the stuff that I loved as a kid and still do… We shot the pilot this summer and being that we got picked up for the first season, I’ll be back at the end of November.”
Thiessen reminisces on past projects

For years, Thiessen has taken on a variety of different roles and killed it in every single one of them. But while she was bringing some of your favorite characters to life, she was also making memories on all of those sets.
“They’re all great memories,” the actress shared. “I look back at those shows very fondly, whether it’s Saved By the Bell, 90210, White Collar or Alexa and Katie. They all represent a different timeline in my life that is very special. Harper [my daughter] finished binging the whole show of White Collar last year and she was, like, ‘Mom, this is such a great show.’ It’s really fun to see her getting older and seeing things that I’ve done, and she enjoys it. Those are kind of neat moments, to see it kind of come full circle again.”
And when it comes to White Collar, Thiessen has memories of becoming a first-time mom to Harper and bringing her to set.
“With [White Collar] specifically, she was a tiny little baby when I was doing that show,” she explained. “I got pregnant during that show. So, it was fun to watch and tell her, ‘I was literally pregnant in the scene with you, or I had just had you, and I would remember running back to the dressing room to nurse you.’”
Thiessen says you should take it all in

With so many amazing projects under her belt, Thiessen has lived an incredible professional life. While growing up in the spotlight, she learned lessons and bits of wisdom that could have been helpful to her younger self. As for advice she would offer that Thiessen, she had a bit of insight.
“Take it all in, slow down… I want things to slow down and really sort of relish in the joy of it all… I say that to my kids now, that this is a once in a lifetime moment, these years, you don’t get back.”
