Courteney Cox Puts a Twist on the ’80s Dance Challenge! Her Recreated Video With Bruce Springsteen
The 'Friends' star upped the TikTok trend in a way only she could do
Courteney Cox is nothing short of iconic and further proved that in her latest TikTok video. In keeping up with the ‘80s dance challenge frenzy, Cox joined the bandwagon and broke out her moves for her daughter Coco. However, she put a fun little twist on the trend and recreated her memorable moment with Bruce Springsteen. Keep scrolling to see her viral video, learn more about the trend and more.
What is the ‘80s TikTok dance challenge?
The trend started popping up in May of 2024 and it’s one of the easier challenges when it comes to TikTok. Whoever is making the video asks a parent to dance like they did in the ’80s while playing “Smalltown Boy” by Bronski Beat. For the parents, it’s a nice way to share those memories and it’s almost as if they never left the discos and the jazzercise.
For the younger generations, it’s a glimpse into their parents’ lives and an easy way to bond over music and how the dancing scene has changed. The videos are entertaining and lighthearted, and can instantly lift your mood.

Courteney Cox recreated her own ‘80s moment

Cox is the latest to try out the ‘80s dance challenge and she did not disappoint. In a TikTok video posted on June 10, with the text “asking my mom how she danced in the ’80s,” the actress started the clip in her living room in a hoodie and jeans, pretending like she didn’t know how to move.
With her arms up in the air, she shook her head and removed the hoodie to reveal a white and red Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band T-shirt. She then really got into the groove and transitioned to a clip of her dancing with Springsteen to “Dancing in the Dark” in the ‘80s. Cox was 20 years old at the time of the original video and 40 years later she’s still got the moves!
Cox was pulled up on stage by Springsteen during the filming of the “Dancing in the Dark” music video. She was selected by Brian De Palma for a casting call and danced at the opening night of Springsteen’s Born in the USA Tour in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
