Keith Urban Performed a Free Concert in a Buc-ee’s Parking Lot — and We’re Obsessed!

Check out the country singer getting his hands dirty with some brisket behind the counter!

Whether you know him as the country superstar he is, famous for songs like “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” “Somebody Like You” and “One Too Many,” or aren’t a country music fan at all and know him simply as Nicole Kidman’s husband, the fact of the matter is that Keith Urban is a stand-up guy in the industry.

With that in mind, he recently showed just how generous he is when he performed a free pop-up show outside none other than Buc-ee’s. But why exactly did the 56-year-old musician decide to put on a concert outside of a convenience store?

For those not from the south or unfamiliar with Buc-ee’s, the chain of 24-hour convenience stores/gas stations have gone viral in the past year, famous not only for their assortment of snacks and treats, but also for their mascot — a big, furry beaver named Bucky,

Since their rise in fame, Buc-ee’s have become something of a roadside attraction for those who pass them on their travels, and the allure of the famed institution was enough to pull in the country superstar as well!

On August 16, Urban took to social media to share a flier announcing that he’d be playing a show at 8 p.m. that night in the parking lot of Buc-ee’s in Athens, Alabama — and he most certainly delivered!

The Australian-American singer performed to a crowd of over 5,000 people — much larger than he had anticipated! In a video shared on Facebook by the City of Athens Public Relations, Urban explains to the audience that after visiting that specific Buc-ee’s location about a month prior, he had left thinking it’d be a fun place to perform a show. Anticipating a small crowd of about 200 people, you can imagine his surprise at seeing what a large turnout there was!

The singer thanked the crowd and took to social media to share his excitement over the surprise concert’s  success. “Thank you sooooo much to everyone that came out to @bucees in Athens, AL on Friday!” he wrote in his caption. “I visited about a month ago and left thinking it would be the perfect spot to do a show. You all exceeded every expectation I could’ve possibly had!! Also want to give a massive shoutout to the entire Buc-ee’s staff for helping us pull this together and being so good to us 🦫”

For Urban, however, the fun didn’t end on the stage! The singer shared a hilarious video of him stepping behind the Buc-ee’s counter where he dove into chopping some brisket!

There’s one thing for certain — we sure hope our next road trip stop to a local Buc-ee’s comes with a free concert by Keith Urban!
