Read All About Patrick J. Adams — The ‘Suits’ Leading Man We Love
What he's said about the 'Suits' spinoff!
There are few actors who could have brought Mike Ross to life in Suits quite like Patrick J. Adams. After all, his role as the genius college dropout turned lawyer earned him accolades and widespread recognition in the television world.
Who is Patrick J Adams?
Born in Toronto, Canada, the 42-year-old actor is known largely for his work on the small screen. Making his debut on the series in 2011, his first on-screen role was only in 2003 as Patch in Old School.
Between his screen debut and his Suits debut, Patrick J. Adams filled his resume with television work, with appearances in series such as Friday Night Lights, Lost, NCIS, Heartland, Ghost Whisperer and more.
He also could be seen on the popular teen mystery drama Pretty Little Liars (he would go onto marry one the show’s leading ladies, Troian Bellisario).
In 2011, he took on perhaps his most notable role in the legal drama alongside faces like Gabriel Macht and Meghan Markle — and the rest is history.

For the Canadian actor, the fanfare surrounding the show was thrilling — and fans loved to tune in episode after episode for the juicy storylines, romance and chemistry between Adams’ character and Gabriel Macht’s character of Harvey Specter, hot shot lawyer.
“I think guys really appreciate watching two guys on either end of the professional spectrum work together,” he said of he and Macht’s character in an interview with Filler Magazine.
“On the one hand they have Harvey, the quintessential winner who has made his name by always out-thinking and out-maneuvering the competition — Harvey is the guy that guys want to be. On the other hand, you have the new kid, who feels like he’s a fraud and is constantly seeking out new ways to prove his worth to the people above him, who he looks up to and admires.”
He continued, “For everyone else, I think the show is sexy and funny, and people from [all] walks of life really seem to respond to the characters that are so well-fleshed out on the page and then by everyone in our incredible cast.”
The series reached new audiences when it began streaming on Netflix in 2023, and since then, the cast, Adams included, have enjoyed the walk down memory lane it has provided.
In a 2020 interview with Collider, before the show got its second wind on Netflix, Adams shared how gracious he was for the opportunity to be apart of the series.
“I learned so much doing that job. I learned so much about what not to do, for myself. I learned that it’s a marathon, not a sprint, and to pace yourself. I learned to be really respectful to all the people you work with. Not that that’s something I ever struggled with but it’s important to maintain that, at all times.”
He continued, “Something like that is so rare. When you get along with that many people and you make this little family, you spend the better part of a decade together getting to be creative, and you get to go through everything together, it’s a really rare gift that I am able to now look back on with such an immense amount of gratitude.”
What has the actor been up to?
The actor has most recently been seen on the screen in He Went That Way (2023), as well as series like Plan B and A League of Their Own. In 2022, the Broadway play he was starring in, Take Me Out, won a Tony for Best Revival of a Play.
Will Patrick J Adams be in the Suits spinoff?
With the announcement of a Suits spinoff in the works, Suits: LA, fans were left wondering if some of the original cast might make an appearance in the series.
“If I got the phone call, I’m ready to suit up again,” Adams said in an interview with Variety. “I love the show, I love the character and I loved working with all these people.”
