Kate Middleton’s Adorable ‘Mom Moment’ Caught On Camera At a Recent Royal Engagement
Prince William and Kate Middleton headed out for another joint engagement yesterday, but the duchess only had eyes for a very special guest. The royal couple paid a visit to UK charity Church on the Street, which provides support for individuals struggling with mental illness, addiction, and homelessness.
“The initiative provides much-needed food, clothing, hot showers, clean clothes, mental health support, care, and advice to hundreds of people daily who are struggling,” the couple wrote on social media.
Located in one of the most deprived areas of Lancashire, this small charity called Church on the Street is creating vital support for those struggling with:

Dressed in a glamorous monochrome outfit, the duchess looked every bit a royal trendsetter as she met with volunteers and staff to hear about their experiences. Rugging up against the chill, she wore an Iris and Ink merino wool-blend sweater and matching skirt under a recycled cashmere wool coat from Massimo Dutti. Her boots were the highlight of the show, a striking pair of suede heels believed to be from Yves Saint Laurent’s latest collection.
But, the 40-year-old has long put motherhood before fashion and simply couldn’t help herself when one member of staff brought out her baby daughter. Receptionist Trudi Barrie and her husband Alistair introduced their daughter Anastasia to a delighted Kate, who quickly took the infant in her arms for a cuddle. Photos from the event show the royal beaming down at the little girl, who was dressed in a pink and white outfit for the occasion.
“Don’t give my wife any more ideas,” William joked with the crowd as Kate cooed at the baby. “No more!” With three children at home — Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three — the prince sounded certain that his family with Kate was big enough already.
And when his wife continued to cradle Anastasia, the future king quipped, “You can’t take her with you.” Even so, the duchess appeared reluctant to hand the baby back to her mother and took a moment to gently wave goodbye to little Anastasia before stepping away with William. The duchess has been praised before for her way with children and it was clear at her latest engagement that her affection for little ones hasn’t waned even as her own kids have started to grow up.
She also demonstrated her affinity with animals earlier on Thursday, when she and William visited Clitheroe Community Hospital and met therapy dogs there. The royal couple took turns holding Alfie, the newest member of the team, who perfectly matched the duchess’ brown ensemble. Joking with staff, Kate shared a small insight into her and William’s home life when she said, “Our dog is going to be very upset. She’s going to be like ‘Where have you been’?” Catherine continued, as William chimed in, “And who have you been seeing?”
The Cambridge family adopted a black cocker spaniel puppy from Catherine’s brother, James Middleton, shortly before their previous family dog Lupo passed in 2020. Royal watchers have been delighted with the couple’s return to royal duties after a period of downtime over the holidays. After a joint engagement on Wednesday, where Kate surprised onlookers by wearing budget earrings, the public are looking forward to seeing more of the couple’s work in the year to come.
