No question about it: The royal wedding was a beautiful affair, and the people in attendance were absolutely radiant. Everyone involved — from the stunning bride Meghan Markle and an excited Prince Harry to the rest of the royal family members and even the celebrity guests — seemed in good spirits and thrilled to be part of this special moment in history. But there was one person whose influence could be felt all around, even though she couldn’t be there in person: Harry’s beloved late mother, Princess Diana.

Though she sadly had to miss seeing her younger son get married to the love of his life, Princess Diana had a noticeable presence at Harry’s wedding. From the carefully chosen flowers in Meghan’s bouquet, to Diana’s own family members and friends there to support the young couple, there was so much about the affair that would have made Harry’s late mother smile. These two truly couldn’t make their mother any prouder if they tried. What mom wouldn’t love seeing her little boys all grown up into respectable, upstanding gentlemen? When William and Harry stood in front of the church at Windsor Castle, quietly joking together at times, every mom out there surely chuckled at their boyish, brotherly bond on display. We just know Diana was looking down with a satisfied grin, amazed at how well her wonderful kids turned out.

Sure, Prince Charles stepped in to escort his new daughter-in-law after her father, Thomas Markle Sr., announced he was unable to attend the wedding due to health concerns. But for the first part of her several-minutes-long jaunt down the aisle, Meghan chose to walk unattended, save for the young bridesmaids and page boys holding her train behind her.
